Yowa Bridge, Myanmar complete

SE were structural engineers for this steel road bridge in rural Myanmar. The bridge replaces an existing bridge at the same location which had become corroded and dangerous. In times of flood, the river would also tend to inundate the old bridge, so a higher deck level was needed. Working in collaboration with the contractor POSCO A&C in Seoul, Korea, we designed the new steelwork to be easily transportable by road. After fabrication in Korea, the parts were transported by sea and road to Yowa Village and assembled quickly using light machinery.
