Structural engineers declare summit 2023
In October 2023 we had the pleasure of participating in the first physical edition of the Structural engineers declare summit, hosted by the Institution of Structural Engineers at their headquarters in London:

“This annual summit highlighted ways to address the climate and biodiversity emergency through circular economy and reuse practices and the implementation of digital tools. The programme also included an update on policy and standards and a panel discussion focused on best practices to use less concrete.”
Our Copenhagen based architect Erik Martiny gave a talk on reducing embodied carbon in building substructures by replacing all reinforced concrete in the foundations and ground bearing slab with foamed cellular glass. To achieve the supporting analysis data, we have used the IstructE Structural Carbon Tool during the design process and for the final calculation.
